Making conservation and learning fun!
Discover friendly farm animals. Experience the working countryside. Follow the changing seasons.
The Rare Breed Centre opened in mid 2004 to promote conservation and education in rare breeds. A visit to our farm gives you the chance to learn about, get close to and even feed a range of rare breed Goats, Sheep, Poultry and Pigs.
The Rare Breed Centre's has a number of activities for the family to enjoy. The activities include:-
Willow Maze
Pedal Tractors
Children's Sandpit
Children Play Area
Over 46,000 people came to visit us in 2009 and 41,000 in a very wet 2008 to see the improvements we have made and see and feed the animals.
The Rare Breeds Centre is just a part of the whole farm site. A network of footpaths link us to Hadleigh Country park next door. Please phone 01702 551072 or email Hadleigh Country Park on www.hadleighcountrypark.co.uk for details of their events.
The farm is very grateful that it has recieved three grants from Cleanaway Pitsea Marshes Trust and one from NFU members trust. This project was also supported by East of England Development Ageancy with funding from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for some of the improvements made to the Rare Breed Centre in 2006.
